VICTORY over Sunderland was “massive” for Arsenal, reckons Gunners midfielder Mikel Arteta.

The home side looked like they were cruising when Robin van Persie put them ahead inside 30 seconds, but the Black Cats responded and could have been in front by the interval following Seb Larsson’s fabulous free kick equaliser.

Another brilliant free kick from Robin van Persie eventually gave Arsenal the win and Arteta called on the Londoners to build on the result.

He said: “If you are very consistent you get the results.

“We know that away from home we have the ability to nick points all the way through the league so it’s up to us.

“It’s a massive win and three points. I think it got a bit complicated after the first 20 minutes when we could have been two or three-nil up.”
