PHIL Bardsley will sit-out Sunderland’s next four games.
The Black Cats have confirmed they will not appeal the violent conduct charge that has been made against him after Saturday’s 2-1 home loss to Chelsea.
Bardsley was told yesterday he had been cited retrospectively following an incident with Chelsea’s Juan Mata at the weekend.
Referee Lee Probert took no action about the incident at the time and there was little fuss about the incident when it happened, with Bardsley quickly apologising to Mata and indicating it had been accidental.
Replays suggested the Chelsea man had been stamped on.
Bardsley - sent off in the home loss to Newcastle earlier this season - later left the field injured.
Ahmed Elmohamady is favourite to fill-in for the former Manchester United defender at right back.
