SUNDERLAND Women manager Mick Mulhern hopes his anniversary celebrations do not come to an immediate halt tomorrow.
Mulhern completed 13 years as boss last weekend as the Lady Black Cats maintained their 100 per cent start to the season with a 4-1 win at Coventry.
Tomorrow at Eppleton CW, Sunderland entertain Aston Villa, looking for a fourth successive league victory as they defent their FA Women’s Premier League title.
“It’s been a tremendous start to the season,” said Mulhern, whose side also boast a League Cup group win to their credit so far this campaign.#
“I celebrated my 13th anniversary at Sunderland Women last weekend at Coventry – which is where my first game was all those years ago!
“We won then, so it was pleasing to win again, especially as Coventry took four points off us last year.
“Everyone has their feet firmly on the ground as it’s going to be a long, hard season. But so far, so good.
Villa have had a mixed start, with one win and two defeats in the league so far – but they will be hoping to repeat the result they achieved last October, when they were the only team to beat Sunderland at Hetton all season.
The Black Cats are without Rachel Furness and Sarah McFadden, who are away on international duty with Northern Ireland.
Tomorrow’s game kicks off at 2pm, with admission £3 for adults, concessions £1.
