SUNDERLAND boss Martin O’Neill refuses to rush Fraizer Campbell into first team action.
The 24-year-old is back in the frame after 16 months out with knee injuries, and played 65 minutes for the reserves this week.
But O’Neill will adopt a cautious approach with the ex-Manchester United man after such a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The manager said: “I’ll have a little look at him and I had the reports from the reserve game the other night and he did very well. It’s asking a lot for him to come back after that length of time out.
“But I’m thankful that he’s around and hopefully it’s the end of his serious problems. That would be great.
“If it takes him a wee bit of time to bed in, then so be it. It would be great for him to be back and playing a part here in the last couple of months of the season.”
