SUNDERLAND have been linked with Liverpool frontman Fabio Borini and Napoli left-back Andrea Dossena as the transfer deadline approaches.
Reports in Italy have suggested Sunderland are in talks over loan moves for the pair, with the transfer window closing at 11pm tomorrow.
Borini has been pushed down the pecking order at Liverpool this season, with the 22-year-old starting just five Premier League games since his £10.5million move from Roma last summer.
The former Swansea man would add depth to Paolo Di Canio’s attacking options, with Jozy Altidore expected to be sidelined for around a fortnight with a hamstring problem, Steven Fletcher only just returning from a five-month lay-off and Stephane Sessegnon potentially leaving Wearside before the deadline.
Dossena, 31, saw a loan switch to Napoli collapse last week after he failed a medical due to a thigh injury which is expected to sidelined him for two weeks.
And that has given Sunderland the opportunity to enter the race for the former Liverpool defender.
