Chris Young gives his verdict on Sunderland’s players’ performance in the season-ending 3-1 defeat at champions Chelsea today

Mannone 5 - Caught out of position for Remy’s opening goal.

Jones 6 - Stuck to his task under Chelsea’s pressure from out wide.

O’Shea 6 - Silly trip on Cuadrado to give Chelsea the chance to level.

Coates 7 - Made several telling interceptions and brought the ball out.

Van Aanholt 7 - Got forward excellently and stretched Ivanovic defensively.

RODWELL 8 - Looks far happier in a holding role and was less hesitant.

Larsson 7 - Staggering that he was still able to cover the ground after Arsenal efforts.

Wickham 6 - Had a couple of occasions when he failed to make the right decision.

Johnson 7 - Several nice runs and got in between the lines.

Defoe 7 - Looked lively, worked hard and had a couple of efforts turned away.

Fletcher 7 - Ended his seven-month goal drought, but should have got another.

Subs:

Giaccherini (for Johnson 75min ) 6 - Outmuscled on a couple of occasions on his comeback.
