SUNDERLAND Under 21s kept up their fantastic start to the new season yesterday with a fine 3-0 win at Southampton.
Young midfielder George Honeyman gave Sunderland the lead in the 22nd minute of the game on the south coast and grabbed his second on the hour thanks to an assist from Mikael Mandron.
Mandron then grabbed Sunderland’s third to make it four wins out of four to send Kevin Ball’s men top of the Barclays Under 21 Premier Reserve League.
It is a far cry from last season when the Black Cats finished bottom of the pile in the Under 21 league.
So far this season, Bolton Wanderers have been 1-0, Leicester City 3-2, Blackburn Rovers 3-1 and now the Saints 3-0.
