SUNDERLAND Under-18s went down 3-2 at Manchester United on Saturday, after pulling back a two-goal interval deficit.
Sean Goss’s curling shot from the edge of the box put United ahead, then James Wilson added a second after Ross Colquhoun was caught in possession.
Sunderland, who had gone close with a Rees Greenwood drive, stormed back in the second half, with American striker Lynden Gooch notching twice in three minutes, finishing off good moves, to haul Ged McNamee’s side level.
James Stinson and Martin Smith were close to putting the Wearsiders in front, but United grabbed the winner when Devonte Redmond netted from a well-worked corner, though Sunderland could have defended it better.
