IS there a Sunderland fan out there who’s favourite moment of the season doesn’t include the Newcastle game in some way?
I very much doubt it.
And I’m no different from them, as the final whistle at St James’s Park was special, and my high point of the season.
Some fans will go for one of the goals, as they were all quality finishes, especially Vaughan’s, but I just loved the emotion and jubilation shown by every one of the Sunderland staff in the technical area right in front of me, and of course our fans high up in the gods.
I was sat in the Press area just behind the Sunderland dug-out and that moment also triggered great memories for me.
As a Sunderland fan playing for my team, I know just how it feels to beat Newcastle by three goals on their own patch and I know it doesn’t get any better.
Paolo Di Canio’s first win as Sunderland manager couldn’t have been scripted any better and especially in the manner it was achieved and the scenes at the end will always remain with me.
