YOU take the positives out of anything, but I must admit I would rather be playing in the fourth round of the FA Cup this weekend.
The players will get a chance for some recuperation and it gives the injured lads an extra week or so to be ready for Chelsea.
And it will give the club time to take stock of where we’re heading and who we need to bring in. But it is still disappointing that we are not in the cup.
There is a great game to look forward to next Tuesday though.
We are not that far off Chelsea anyway so we have nothing to fear. By their standards, they are having a dodgy run but they are still quality.
They’re a team with great stars but Sunderland can go into the game with great confidence.
The pressure is off and it’s a game to savour and enjoy for the fans.
When you consider what’s been our best day of the season so far, then for me it was Chelsea away without a doubt.
It was such an astonishing performance and we played them totally off the park.
When they come to our place, they will be desperate to put in a good performance after what we did to them down there.
They must be relishing the game and it’s a different matter entirely when you can enjoy these games rather than being in the bottom three and fearing them.
