ASTON Villa striker Darren Bent is close to agreeing a loan move to Fulham, according to reports.
But Newcastle United could still make an 11th-hour bid to hijack Bent’s proposed season-long switch to Craven Cottage.
Bent was due to undergo a medical today after Crystal Palace conceded defeat in their attempts to take him to Selhurst Park.
United manager Alan Pardew – who worked with Bent at Charlton Athletic – is keen to sign the former Sunderland player, who joined Villa in a £18m deal in January 2011.
Fulham are understood to have agreed a substantial loan fee for Bent, who is keen on a move to Newcastle.
And it remains to be seen whether United make a late bid for Bent.
