Sunderland supporters will have the chance to meet ex-Black Cats striker Michael Bridges at two talk-ins being held next week.
The former fans’ favourite – who returns to Australia later this month – will be at the Portland pub in Ashington on Thursday, January 14 and at Whitburn Cricket Club on Friday, January 15.
And the 37-year-old says he regrets not being able to do more before returning Down Under.
“It has been something of a flying visit really, so I haven’t had much chance to do nights likes these,” Bridges told the Echo.
“It’s a bit of a shame because I enjoy doing talk-ins and meeting supporters and I try to do something a little bit different with the nights, which hopefully makes it more entertaining.
“I came back in the middle of last month and have been doing a lot of catching up with friends and family and a lot of media work, so I’m looking forward to the chance to meet supporters and talk about the ‘old’ days!”
Tickets are limited for both nights and have been selling fast, with Whitburn Cricket Club a small venue (tickets are priced £10) and the Portland pub night organised by the Ellington & District branch of the Sunderland Supporters’ Association (tickets £12).
As well as giving a presentation on his career, Bridges will answer questions from compere Phil Hourigan and have plenty of time to chat to supporters.
Fans interested in tickets for either talk-in should contact Phil on 07774 311028.
