FORMER Sunderland loan star Fabio Borini staked his claim for regular Liverpool action next season by scoring in last night’s 4-0 Dublin friendly against Shamrock Rovers.
Borini played the last match of his season-long loan on Sunday, netting his 10th goal for the Black Cats, and he kept up that form with a fine strike back in Liverpool’s colours just after half-time.
The Italian netted with an impressive curling effort into the inner side netting to double the lead for an Anfield side which had only Lucas and Joe Allen of this term’s Premier League regulars.
Iago Aspas, whose future is in doubt after an uninspiring debut campaign, opened the scoring with a smart left-foot finish. Defender Martin Kelly and young striker Jack Dunn also notched.
