RELEASED Sunderland keeper Keiren Westwood has joined Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday.
Westwood today penned a two-year deal at Hillsborough after the Owls beat off competition from Blackburn and Brighton for the Republic of Ireland international.
The 29-year-old left the Stadium of Light at the end of last season after a luckless three-year spell on Wearside which saw injury, illness and the form of Simon Mignolet and Vito Mannone restrict him to just 18 Premier League starts.
Sunderland opted against offering him a new deal in the summer after a shoulder problem had kept him out for the final six months of the campaign.
But Westwood has a chance to get his career back on track with the Owls after the Bosman switch was wrapped up swiftly over the weekend.
