FORMER Sunderland striker Daryl Murphy has penned a two-year deal with Ipswich Town.

Murphy has enjoyed three separate loan spells with the Tractor Boys, including season-long stints in each of the last two campaigns.

With the 30-year-old’s contract expiring at SPL champions Celtic this summer, Murphy has now agreed to a permanent stay at Portman Road.

Murphy will remain under the charge of Ipswich boss and former Sunderland manager Mick McCarthy, who brought the frontman from Irish side Waterford United to the Stadium of Light in the summer of 2005.
