SUNDERLAND have completed the signing of David Vaughan, with the free agent agreeing a three-year deal at the Stadium of Light.
Vaughan had been chased by a host of clubs after rejecting the chance to stay at relegated Blackpool.
But the 28-year-old turned down the likes of West Brom, Wolves and Rangers to join Sunderland and become the Black Cats’ ninth new signing of the summer.
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce said: “David was excellent throughout last season, including both games against us, so it’s only natural that he caught the attention of a number of top clubs.
“We’re delighted that he sees his future at Sunderland. His experience, grit and energy in midfield will be a valuable asset to us and we’re now looking forward to him joining up with the squad for pre-season training.”
