Jordan Pickford: Nervy start, spilled low drive from Lookman but recovered well to save with his legs from Gana. Had no chance with opener. Handling nervy throughout. Smart saves as game wore on....6

Billy Jones: Tough start to proceedings, with Everton winning four corners in first five minutes. Gana caused him problems. Went off with a head injury late on....6

John O'Shea (C): Made some timely interceptions against a wave of blue shirts. Much improved from Southampton display.....6

Lamine Kone: Few nervous moments, Gana also turned him too easily. Hard work cut-out against Lukaku, who beat him too often....5

Seb Larsson: Poor set pieces, expecially corners. Offered little first half. Was more involved after the break. Gave the ball away when Sunderland looked to break...5
