Billy Jones: Tough start to proceedings, with Everton winning four corners in first five minutes. Gana caused him problems. Went off with a head injury late on....6

John O'Shea (C): Made some timely interceptions against a wave of blue shirts. Much improved from Southampton display.....6

Lamine Kone: Few nervous moments, Gana also turned him too easily. Hard work cut-out against Lukaku, who beat him too often....5

Bryan Oviedo: Torried opening spell, Everton dominated. Didn't pick up Coleman to help prevent cross for opener. Tough afternoon. Beaten by Lukaku for second..5

Darron Gibson: Booked for clattering into Lookman. Lost Gana for the opening goal. Worked hard but struggled to make a big impact. Subbed late in second half....6

Seb Larsson: Poor set pieces, expecially corners. Offered little first half. Was more involved after the break. Gave the ball away when Sunderland looked to break...5

Jermain Defoe: Had very little service, needed more support from Borini and Januzaj. Saw a good effort cannon off the crossbar moments before Everton scored their second....6
