WITH the first of an Arsenal double header at the Stadium of Light this weekend, there’s been of lot of people asking the hypothetical: would you rather beat them in the league or the cup?
I’d rather beat them in both and will remain suitably optimistic that we will.
Arsenal had a stunning result last week after some indifferent form prior to it.
They’ll certainly have gained back some confidence, but let’s not forget sticking seven past a ten-man Blackburn side, at the Emirates, is a lot different to coming away to the league’s form side.
Obviously, it won’t be easy, on the contrary, it’ll be very tough (it is Arsenal, after all), but we have every right to go into the game full of confidence.
Stopping the outstanding Robin van Persie will be half the battle in both games, but I’m sure Martin O’Neill will have given the issue sufficient consideration.
It would be fantastic to get to see Thierry Henry play again, my favourite non-Sunderland player.
However, I’m not that sentimental and don’t want a chance to see him score against us again.
The Lads will be tired after the midweek game, but one last big effort, will give us a week’s recovery before we beat them again.
Prediction: Sunderland 2 Arsenal 0
