WATCHING Match of the Day on Saturday night and then listening to the pundits on the Monday Night Club on BBC Radio 5 live talking about Liverpool had me breaking out in a cold sweat at the thought of what they might do to us, writes Tony Potts.
The prospect of Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling, Henderson et al running at our defence with two thirty-somethings in the middle and the distinctly immobile Dossena at left-back, doesn’t bear thinking about.
Oh, for a modern-day Stan Cummins or Gary Rowell to sneak a goal and, you never know, Mannone may emulate Jurgen Macho from a few years back and keep them at bay almost single-handedly. Liverpool do look suspect at the back at times but are currently scoring goals for fun. They will draw a blank one day but I just cannot see how we can keep possession for long enough.
Altidore seems unable to hold the ball up so it keeps coming back and eventually that relentless pressure will surely tell if that scenario unfolds tonight.
WhileI am delighted to have Wickham back and available, I would expect to see him figure more in the games to come.
Prediction: Liverpool 3 Sunderland 0
