Echo Jury: Stuart Hall reflects on the final game of the season

Have your say

IT’S a shame to finish the season with a loss, although certainly no shame in losing to Manchester Utd, who finished our game thinking they were champions only for City to score twice in injury-time.

I certainly didn’t want to watch the trophy being lifted at our ground.

O’Neill used the match as a shop window for a few players such as Vaughan and Bramble who both started and Elmohamady played around 70 minutes. He had one of his better games in a Sunderland shirt.

It was Bramble who was at fault for their only goal, failing to deal with a bouncing ball into the box allowing Rooney to nod home at the back post.

We played well in parts. Sessegnon was dangerous throughout the game and Jack Colback also looked good.

I think we can expect to see plenty of players leaving over the summer and a few coming in. I hope O’Neill moves wisely as we’ve plenty of ‘dead wood’ to shift.

Considering the massive lift the club had when he arrived and the fact all bar two of the players were signed by Bruce, we should be content I suppose with the season … and I hope Sess stays.
