FOLLOWING the disappointment of the Reading postponement, tomorrow sees us finally play our first league home fixture of the season.
Brendan Rodgers will bring his Liverpool side to Wearside, with both teams attempting to secure their first win of the campaign. With that in mind, I expect the game to be tight, with the first twenty minutes in particular to be cagey.
It has of course been an emotional week for Liverpool, and as a result I believe we’ll see a heartfelt performance from Liverpool players and fans alike. I fully expect an electric atmosphere at the Stadium of Light.
I sincerely hope that our fans and players both rise to the occasion and help play a part in a memorable night of football.
Adam Johnson has returned to training after his injury cost him a couple of international caps, and after a lacklustre display at Swansea, I’m hoping he’ll be fired up to impress against a side linked with his signature in the summer.
Steven Fletcher will be key tomorrow in a game that may not produce too many clear-cut chances. My prediction is a draw and an exciting night for both sets of supporters.
Prediction: Sunderland 1 Liverpool 1.
