Echo Jury: Ryan Doneathy expects Sunderland to head to Swansea in confident mood

Have your say

TOMORROW’S trip to the Liberty Stadium should make for an enthralling game, with the two clubs both having overseen dramatic changes since we last met in South Wales a year ago.

Swansea have started brilliantly under new manager Michael Laudrup, winning two, scoring eight and conceding none, with summer signing Michu settling to life in the Premier League quicker than Usain Bolt in the 100 metres.

They earned plaudits last year for their style of football, although I think Sunderland, under Martin O’Neill, can be Swansea’s kryptonite with the way we set out to counter-attack.

Sessegnon, Johnson and McClean will all provide outlets for the lads. Throw Fletcher into the equation and Swansea’s defence have a hard task on their hands.

I’m excited at the prospect of seeing the “fantastic four” in action again following the midweek performance, where they looked exciting despite not overexerting themselves against Morecambe. They can make the difference on the day.

Swansea will be difficult to contain. Their home form last year was exceptional and our away form is generally patchy, but I firmly believe we stand a great chance of getting all three points. Sunderland to edge it.

Prediction: Swansea 1 Sunderland 2.
