WITH nine games left, this is one of the few matches which we can still conceivably win. My biggest concern is the opposition manager, Chris Hughton, as, previously, he’s certainly had the measure of Sunderland, writes Gary Harrison.
The last time we faced them at Carrow Road, it highlighted some of our best and worst traits this term. The defending was shocking, but once the wide players began to gain possession of the ball, Sunderland more than matched Norwich.
It’s hard to know what the solution is to Sunderland’s current lethargy; there is obviously a major confidence issue. One thing is for sure, we can’t allow a side another goal start.
Being such a huge game and given that Graham hasn’t fitted the bill so far, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he finds himself benched on Sunday. That would allow an extra midfielder to possibly protect the shoddy backline.
Hopefully, Rose will be back in to add some much-needed quality – if only we had a few more like him. Sunderland haven’t had the luxury of Rose and Sessegnon on either flank – at the same time – since Sess made the move to the wing. That could prove the difference for this harsh run-in. Three points here is a must!
Prediction: Sunderland 2 Norwich 1.
