Echo Jury: Jack Shields looks ahead to tonight’s cup clash at MK Dons

Have your say

THERE aren’t many new grounds to the travelling away supporters these days, but tonight will feature the first meeting between us and MK Dons.

Every lower league club dreams of a big upset and all the publicity that comes with it, so hopefully we won’t fail like we did at Brighton last year.

The team selection may be an interesting one. I think O’Neill will respect the opposition and name a strong squad.

I still think, however, it is important to name players who may not feature regularly in the Premier League, as it’s good for match fitness. Meyler, Wickham and the likes of Ji could start.

The most important thing is to get the job done. Without wanting to sound too complacent, this is a decent draw and could have been a lot worse.

We have to be more attacking and dominate. MK Dons are two leagues below us and therefore the pressure is on us. We cannot afford to sit back because that would be embarrassing.

I’m confident we will win, but I think it will be close.

Prediction: MK Dons 1 Sunderland 2.
