WELL, this is it. Ninety minutes of football, determining whether the dream of Wembley comes true, or if we fall at the last hurdle, writes Matthew Foster.
Whatever happens tonight, the players can hold their heads up high for their spirited cup run, which has included magnificent wins against Chelsea and the defeat of Man Utd in the first leg.
But the players surely can taste the final now, and with United against the ropes, they are more than capable of landing the killer blow.
The feeling I get is that United fans are very confident about winning this on their own turf. Yes, we haven’t won at Old Trafford for just under 44 years, but there have been several teams who have broken similar records there this season.
And after all, a draw would be enough to see us through.
Man Utd have had their list of unavailable players extended following Vidic’s red card and Evra limping off. Regardless of how weakened they are, no mercy must be shown, as we shall receive none.
Whatever team may emerge from that tunnel – backed by 9,000 wearing red and white – I’m sure they will do us proud. HA’WAY THE LADS!
Prediction: Man Utd 1 Sunderland 1
