Echo Jury: Gary Wilkinson reflects on a good night’s work in the Capital One Cup

Have your say

ANOTHER good win in the League Cup, and a lot of positives to take from the game.

Sunderland didn’t ever look in danger of conceding to the League One outfit, restricting the MK Dons to shots from long range.

On an attacking front, Saha impressed and its easy to see why he’s played for Manchester United. I’d be really tempted to give him a run-out on Saturday in place of Sessegnon.

It was nice to see James McClean get on the scoresheet with a cracking goal. Hopefully that will give the Irishman a confidence boost and see his league performances improve.

Where do I start with the Cattermole sending off?

Everyone can see Cattermole has the quality to be a good, ball-winning midfielder and I’d be surprised if he didn’t pick up cards. However, I can see why fans think he let’s himself down with the red and yellow cards he does pick up, mainly because you can see the fouls coming.

Either way he’s going to be a massive miss, especially in the derby game.

Sunderland can be very happy with the night’s work. Progress was the target and that’s what we have got. Let’s hope for a decent draw tonight. Newcastle, Boro or Leeds please!
