AFTER the disappointment of Saturday, I have a feeling this game will have an added sense of importance and could be a great opportunity to give some of our new faces an early run-out away from the demands of the league.
I think we should be looking to put out a strong squad and make sure we get through and are in the hat for the later rounds. After the postponement on Saturday, the lads should be chomping at the bit to get some game time and we hopefully get a glimpse of what £24million gets you in today’s market.
I know not a lot of teams really take the Capital One Cup seriously, but any chance of a trophy and European qualification has to be taken seriously for a team like us.
With other teams not putting out their best squad for matches, we could realistically be in with a shout of winning it if we play our best 11 and the manager can get the team fired up before the game.
Morecambe have won one of their three league games this season and I really can’t see them getting a result against us. With the talent O’Neill has at his disposal, we should be easily through to the next round.
Prediction: SAFC 3 Morecambe 0.
