Jeremain Lens has confirmed he is in talks with Sunderland over a move to Wearside.
The forward is top of the Black Cats’ wanted list as head coach Dick Advocaat looks to add to his firepower ahead of the new season.
Reports today suggested Lens was in the region for a medical, but while the player insists that’s not the case, he admitted he is in negotiations over a switch from Dynamo Kiev to the Stadium of Light.
“I’m not having a medical examination, but I am in talks with Sunderland,” he told www.foxsports.nl.
“I have never made a secret of the fact that I like the Premier League.
“Despite Dynamo playing in the Champions League, now it seems like a great opportunity to make the switch.”
Winger Lens played for Advocaat at AZ Alkmaar and PSV Eindhoven and says their relationship is a big factor in his desire to come to Wearside.
He said: “We have previously worked well together at AZ and PSV. We know each other – that’s ideal. It’s not all there yet, but it should be clear that I am really keen on a transfer.”
