It came as little surprise to me when I heard of interest in Jordan Pickford from some of the big hitters in the Premier League.
Regardless of the club’s start to the season, you don’t need 20/20 vision to see he’s a class act - but we’d be foolish to entertain any offers.
The scenario was put to me that we should sell Jordan and try and bring in Joe Hart, a move I wouldn’t be totally averse to that but as with Lamine Kone, I’d love for the club to show ambition and move heaven and earth to keep him at the club.
I’ve no doubt Jordan will keep progressing, whatever club he’s at, but now we are beginning to produce them, let’s start keeping our gems.
No matter what the bid for him would be, financially it would make little sense in selling a kid brought through the ranks and replacing him with Hart, who would command big wages and a fee.
Especially since he has the potential to be even better than Hart.
Let’s get him tied down and allow Adrian Tucker to keep on developing a keeper who could go on to be England’s best.
