SUNDERLAND reporter Chris Young gives his ratings as the Black Cats draw at Arsenal to secure their place in the Premier League.

Pantilimon 9 - Magnificent saves to deny Walcott, Gibbs and Giroud.

Jones 8 - Fortunate to escape with heart-in-the-mouth moment when he headed against own bar.

O’Shea 9 - At his imperious best, used all his experience to nullify the Gunners.

Coates 9 - Has been a real zero to hero during this relegation battle.

Van Aanholt 7 - Caught out of position a couple of times, but stuck to his task.

Cattermole 9 - Gave everything in disrupting the Gunners on the edge of the Sunderland box.

Larsson 9 - Shrugged off his knee injury to cover every blade alongside Cattermole.

Johnson 7 - Made Fletcher’s first chance and worked doggedly.

Wickham 5 - Control was frequently poor and got in two minds over going forwards.

Defoe 8 - Set up van Aanholt and Fletcher chances, but more importantly worked doggedly.

Graham 5 - Struggled to offer Sunderland an attacking platform on the break.

Subs:

Rodwell (for Wickham 46) 7 - Covered the ground in the middle of the park.

Fletcher (for Graham 46) 6 - Offered far more going forwards than Wickham, but should have scored at least one.

Buckley (for Johnson 75) 6 - Provided fresh legs in chasing down the Gunners.
