Have your say

This week has felt like the week leading up to Christmas when you’re kid!

By the time you read this it will finally be the official start of the FA Women’s Super League season.

I am ridiculously excited about playing games and not just because it means the end of all the pre-season running that I have been complaining about over the last few weeks (sorry about that!).

In preparation for our first game the team faced the media on Monday afternoon at the Stadium of Light.

We did lots of interviews for radio, TV and newspapers and it all started to sink in that the season is really about to start.

The boost in media interest in the women’s game is fantastic. You can now support the team even if you cannot get to the game.

Our first match against Liverpool is live on BT Sport, kick off 7.45pm and also live on BBC 5Live Extra, which is great for Sunderland fans who cannot get to Liverpool.

This week at SAFC Ladies we also welcomed a new player into the Sunderland family.

Brooke Chaplen has signed for us from Everton Ladies and we are all really pleased to have her in the team.

She is a quality player and has great experience from playing in FA WSL1 for the past six years not to mention winning the FA Women’s Cup and playing in the Champions League.

If you don’t catch this week’s game on TV, your first chance to see Brooke (and the rest of us!) is on Wednesday 1st April at the Hetton Centre when we take on Manchester City Women, kick off 6.30pm.

We would love to get a massive crowd behind the team for our first home game in Super League One.

You can buy tickets online at safc.com/ladies or at the ground before the game. Or if you are feeling lucky follow me on twitter @RachLaws1 and try and win a pair of tickets!

Time for me to get my head on the game, wish me luck!
