CARLISLE United coach Chris Blake is on his way to Sunderland’s Academy as their new performance analyst.

The 27-year-old, has been heavily involved in the Cumbrians’ youth set-up and the League Two club’s preparations for the new Elite Player Performance Plan.

He said: “I wasn’t looking to leave Carlisle, but when Sunderland called and offered me the position I was very flattered.

“It’s an interesting job at a good club and I decided to give it a go.”

Blake, who has briefly worked at Sunderland in the past, will work under Academy director Ged McNamee.

His role starts later this month with his duties revolving around the development of the Black Cats’ Under-21 team.
