DESPITE being second from bottom and having conceded more goals than any other side, Silksworth Rangers insist they are buoyant going into tonight’s Wearside League game at home to Leam Rangers, writes Malcolm Pratt.
David Steele said: “We have given joint leaders Ryhope CW and Redcar Athletic a good game in the last week, even though we lost both matches.
“We believe we have a very good chance of picking up points, starting against Leam Rangers.”
Silksworth are delighted that leading scorer Anton Crann, Paul Muir and Dillon Holden are all available especially as John McClean and John Turvey are out injured. Chris Crumbie will need a fitness test.
Leam are just three places above Silksworth and they cannot name suspended pair Leon Kane or Steven Wood.
Ryhope CW have the opportunity to open up a lead over Redcar Athletic when they host Annfield Plain.
A massive blow to the Wearsiders is the unavailability of strikers John Butler and Paul Taylor who between them have racked up 42 goals this season.
Richard Jordan is another absentee. He begins a three-match ban tonight.
In contrast, Annfield Plain are at full strength with the return of Colin Snailham and Andrew Brooks.
