Former Oxford United striker John Campbell then took command of the game, doubling the home lead by beating keeper Jonathan Carmichael on 29 minutes.

It remained 2-0 until the hour mark, when Campbell notched again. He completed his hat-trick for 4-0 in the 66th minute, made it five 11 minutes later and finished off a Paul Brayson pass to complete the scoring four minutes from time.

Morpeth Town’s home game against Ashington was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch, as was Dunston UTS’s trip to Penrith.

Title-chasing Stockton Town’s Second Division game at Blyth Town was also called off.
