Seaham Red Star Reserves upset the form-book big style tonight when they lifted the Durham County FA Trophy with a stunning 3-1 win over Wearside League rivals Hartlepool at Norton.

Fifth-top Pool, who defeated champions Stockton Town in their previous game, were odds-on favourites, but, after conceding an early lead to Alex Marshall, the Star roared back and three goals in six minutes immediately before the interval set them on their way to a shock victory.

Their hero was Adam Hepple, who rifled all three goals. After 39 minutes, he headed home a corner and then twice broke clear of the Pool defence before delivering clinical finishes wide of home goalkeeper Ryan Harrisskitt.

Pool dominated the second half, Marshall hitting the bar and Craig Wetherill having an effort cleared off the line, and keeper Chay Adamson preserved the lead with four excellent saves.
