Danny Johnson and Ryan Bowman struck doubles as Gateshead secured a 6-2 friendly win at Northern League neighbours Dunston UTS last night.

Johnson’s brace had Heed on top, only for former Chester-le-Street striker Scott Heslop’s double to level it up on his Dunston debut. He fired home from the edge of the box to cut the deficit, then equalised with a well-taken 12-yard strike

Second-half strikes from Bowman (2), ex-Hartlepool star Antony Sweeney and Luke Hannant steered home the visitors, who were skippered by ex-Sunderland centre-back Ben Clark, in front of a 410-strong crowd.
