MIDFIELDER Remy Cabella is back in Newcastle United’s starting XI – but he might not stay there for long.

Cabella started last weekend’s 2-1 win over Chelsea at St James’s Park after coming off the bench to spark a comeback against Burnley.

And the summer signing is expected to face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League tomorrow.

But manager Alan Pardew feels that the attacking midfielder is still adjusting to the demands of English football – and he believes that he will also have a significant impact off the bench this season.

“Before I started him against Chelsea, I said that he would be like this all year for us – he’ll be in, out, he’ll start, he’ll be sub,” said Pardew.

“The way he plays, sometimes he can get lost a little bit.

“But when the game gets open, like it did second half at Burnley and Spurs, he can have more and more influence when we get a bit more possession.

“It actually favours hsim a little bit when the game slows down, and he comes off the bench and can affect the game.”

Meanwhile, striker Papiss Cisse – who scored both Newcastle’s goals against Chelsea – is pushing for a start, having put his recent knee problems behind him.

The 29-year-old’s goals took his goal tally for the season to seven.

And Pardew is confident Cisse will bring many more goals to Newcastle – any which way he can.

“He is a goalscorer and will score all sorts of goals – off the back of his head or off his knee, like he did at Burnley,” said Pardew.

“He is one of those priceless players. At the moment he is red hot and, if we give him the chances I feel pretty confident he will take them.

“We’ve had to manage his knee, and it’s an ongoing process. From now until the summer, we need to be careful with him.”
