Manchester United have reportedly turned down a bid of £500,000 from Newcastle United for Ravel Morrison.
The 18 year-old’s contract expires in the summer, and Sir Alex Ferguson is looking to sell him in this transfer window in order to secure a decent sum for the midfielder after contract talks with the youngster stalled.
Under The FA’s rules, due to Morrison’s age, if he moved to another English club in the summer a transfer fee would be set by a tribunal and this could be significantly less than the player is worth.
Morrison has been capped for England at under-16, under-17 and under-18 level and has been described by Ferguson as “a very, very talented boy”.
Despite his talent, Morrison has found himself in trouble with management at Manchester United, with a record of non-appearance at training.
Morrison also found himself in court in 2011, pleading guilty to two counts of witness intimidation. He was sentenced to a 12 month referral order.
