Steve McClaren will take charge of training at Newcastle United tomorrow after a day of talks over his future.
Fans chanted for McClaren’s dismissal at the relegation-threatened club during Saturday’s 3-1 home defeat to Bournemouth.
And there were top-level talks today over McClaren’s future at the club.
However, the discussions, led by managing director Lee Charnley, did not lead to a decisive outcome.
While the 54-year-old remains in charge, United could yet make a managerial change before Monday night’s game at Leicester City.
David Moyes, Nigel Pearson, Rafa Benitez and Harry Redknapp have all been linked with the club.
