LOIC Remy has lost his battle to be fit for Newcastle United’s visit to the Britannia Stadium.

The forward has missed the club’s last five games with a calf problem.

And United manager Alan Pardew had hoped to have Remy back for Saturday’s Premier League game against Stoke City.

Remy - who has scored 13 goals so far this season - could instead make his comeback against Swansea City at St James’s Park on April 19.

But Pardew said today: “He won’t make this game, but he is training.

“We like to think he’ll make the next game.”

However, goalkeeper Tim Krul could return against Stoke after recovering from the knee injury which saw him miss Newcastle’s defeats to Manchester United and Southampton.
