NEWCASTLE grabbed a stoppage-time equaliser to deny Rangers a friendly victory at Ibrox tonight.
Veteran Lee McCulloch’s early penalty had Ally McCoist’s men in front, but Shola Ameobi came off the bench to level late on.
Home striker Nicky Clark was felled by Fabricio Coloccini’s challenge in the fifth minute and McCulloch stepped up to send his spot-kick just out of fit-again keeper Tim Krul’s reach.
The Magpies – who improved after the introduction of their substitutes – drew level in the first minute of stoppage time when a slack pass from Rangers let in Sammy Ameobi, who fed his elder brother, Shola, who produced a cheeky dinked finish over Cammy Bell.
