ALAN Pardew says Newcastle United will do everything it can to help Jonas Gutierrez win his battle against cancer.
Gutierrez this week revealed he was undergoing treatment for testicular cancer.
The 31-year-old winger – who had a testicle removed last year – is undergoing a course of chemotherapy in his native Argentina.
“The club is supporting him on a financial level and I hope has given him the support he needs,” said United manager Pardew.
“As a player, the best left side I have had at this club was (Jose) Enrique and Jonas, there is no doubt about that.
“That was a terrific pairing. When we finished fifth (in the Premier League), Jonas was a massive part of that.
“Now he finds himself in a different fight and a different situation. I have to admire the way he has conducted himself.
“I am sure people will use this as an example of hopefully how to deal with it. He has been incredibly brave to go on TV and give interviews.
“All our love goes to him and we just send our best wishes.”
