ALAN Pardew has accepted Sunderland owner Ellis Short’s nomination of him in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge - but he doubts Mike Ashley will follow suit!
Short mischievously challenged Newcastle United manager Pardew, club owner Ashley and midfielder Jack Colback after getting a bucket of iced water poured over his head at the Stadium of Light.
A number of Newcastle players and staff have already taken part in the charity craze, which was started by the ALS Association.
The charity is raising money for research into amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, more commonly known as motor neurone disease in Britain.
Pardew said: “Good luck with Mike Ashley - he can contact him directly!
“Ryan Taylor nominated me before the Sunderland chairman, so I am going to honour Ryan’s (challenge), but I am sure the Sunderland chairman will engage in the fact that he will get part of that as well.”
Asked who would do the honours, Pardew added: “I will let the staff decide on who pours the bucket over me, I am sure there are one or two who will like to do that.”
