STEVE Harper has joined Brighton and Hove Albion on loan – and he is set to face former team-mate Kevin Nolan on his debut, writes Miles Starforth.
The Newcastle United goalkeeper (left) last night finalised a month-long deal at the south coast club.
And the 36-year-old is pencilled in to make his debut for Gus Poyet’s Championship side against Sam Allardyce’s West Ham United in a televised clash at the Amex Stadium tonight.
Harper is yet to make an appearance for Newcastle this season, with Tim Krul having started the season between the posts.
Manager Alan Pardew signed Rob Elliot from Charlton Athletic as goalkeeping cover in August. And Pardew admitted last week there was a possibility either Harper or Elliot would be farmed out.
