BOOKMAKERS have cut the odds on Newcastle boss Alan Pardew becoming the next Premier League manager to lose his job – after he was tipped for the sack.
Pardew (pictured) is 4/1 second-favourite behind West Ham’s Sam Allardyce in the sack race betting market. The 53-year-old had been chalked up at 9/1 after the summer transfer window closed on Monday night, but the odds have shortened after a flurry of bets on Pardew being the next top-flight manager to go.
One report claimed that Pardew – whose side are yet to win in the league this season – has two games to save his job.
Pardew, who must wait until next weekend’s visit to Southampton to try to kick-start the Magpies’ season faces a backlash from fans after allowing Hatem Ben Arfa to join Hull City on loan.
