ALAN Pardew is adamant that Newcastle United are ‘in the loop’ – and ready to step up their transfer business.
The club is looking to sign two strikers this summer.
Newcastle need to replace former loanee Loic Remy and stalwart Shola Ameobi, who has been released.
But United manager Pardew doesn’t expect there to be much movement during the World Cup.
The club looks to have missed out on Hertha Berlin’s Pierre-Michael Lasogga, who is close to Hamburg.
However, Pardew isn’t unduly concerned, with Newcastle having already made progress by signing midfielder Jack Colback from Sunderland and promising forward Ayoze Perez from Tenerife.
And he is confident the club will be in the thick of it when the transfer markets starts to move next month.
“The key signings, the strikers, are obviously the toughest ones to get over the line,” said Pardew.
“They kind of hedge their bets a little bit and we have got a little bit of that going on.
“They will all start securing up when pre-season is back in swing and they are focused on clubs.
“That’s when we start to see real activity.”
“We’re doing everything we can at the moment to be in the loop with the ones that we want to be in the loop with,” Pardew said.
“Hopefully, we will get the signings we want.”
