LOIC Remy has lost his battle to be fit to face Manchester United.
The Newcastle United forward has missed the club’s last four games with a calf problem.
And manager Alan Pardew had hoped to have his leading scorer back for Saturday’s home game.
But Remy has failed to prove his fitness, and will miss the match along with midfielder Moussa Sissoko, who suffered a hamstring problem in last weekend’s 4-0 defeat to Southampton.
“Moussa has a hamstring strain,” said Pardew today. “He’ll be (out for) at least two or three weeks.”
Pardew will also be without goalkeeper Tim Krul (knee) and defender Mathieu Debuchy (groin).
