Montpellier manager Rolland Courbis has questioned the wisdom of Remy Cabella’s move to Newcastle United.
Cabella arrived at St James’s Park a year ago in a £12million deal.
But the 25-year-old had a tough first campaign on Tyneside.
And Courbis has had a dig at the France international, who has been linked with a loan move to Olympique Marseille.
“With some irony, I said that I was not mad about Newcastle,” Courbis told RMC.
“I sincerely hope with all my heart, because God knows I love this little boy, that he has a huge contract financially.
“From being with Montpellier and being in the 23 players that represent the France team, to going to playing only a part of the games, while scoring one goal when you scored 15 or so with Montpellier, I really hope he has some financial compensation.
“If in the morning, he wakes up, and he is happy to go to train at Newcastle, he will have to question himself.”
Cabella is sidelined with a thigh injury.
