JOHN Carver was involved in a heated confrontation with Newcastle United fans at the St Mary’s Stadium.
The club’s assistant manager was filmed remonstrating with supporters holding up a banner calling for Alan Pardew to be sacked before this afternoon’s game.
Southampton went on to win 4-0 in front of Newcastle owner Mike Ashley.
And Carver’s actions were widely condemned by fans on social media in the aftermath of the defeat.,
United’s supporters chanted against manager Pardew during the game, and one fan had to be wrestled to the ground after running on to the pitch to confront him at the final whistle.
Pardew refused to speak to the written Press after the Premier League match.
However, he spoke to rights-holding media.
Asked about his future, Pardew said: “I haven’t asked for any assurances about my job, and I haven’t been given any.”
