Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney is gunning for Newcastle United in Friday night’s televised Sky Bet Championship opener.
And he is looking for a gung-ho start against Rafa Benitez’s Magpies.
Cairney is set to skipper the Cottagers against Newcastle, having captained the side to victory over Crystal Palace in last weekend’s final pre-season friendly in the absence of talisman Ross McCormack, whose future is the subject of intense speculation.
Happy to have completed the testing pre-season work, Cairney told fulhamfc.com: “Every year you worry have you done enough; have you done too much – it’s that psychological thing.
“But I’m confident we’ll have all guns blazing and get off to a good start against the side that are favourites for the league.”
